Filey Bay Flagship – 46% ABV (~£50)

From Yorkshire’s first ever single malt whisky distillery near the village of Hunmanby on the coast, where all the barley used is grown on family farm and the family is in control of every stage of the growing and distilling process, from choosing the variety of barley and how it is grown, right through to bottling at the distillery. Very few other distilleries in the UK can claim this and it's something they're exceptionally proud of.

The Gannet logo – comes from the distillery's close proximity to a large colony of Gannets on Bempton Cliffs
The distillery has invested in two of the largest pot stills operating in the UK outside of Scotland. These were fired up for the first time in May 2016 and there are thousands of casks of various types – including sherry butts and bourbon casks, all of which will help create the subtle, complex flavours of their spirit

Nose: Peach, apricot, buttered crackers and a hint of mint leaf

Palate: Chocolate chip cookies, maple syrup, barley, more peach, honeycomb and walnut

Finish: Gingerbread, orange peel, very slightly floral
