Give away of fresh vegetables, fruit, and flowers to promote the return of the hourly train service at Hunmanby Railway station
On Monday 14th September 2020, Northern rail introduced a new train timetable, this saw the return of an hourly train service at the village station. To promote this, Friends of Hunmanby railway Station gave away surplus fresh local produce.

From the first train at 6.25am to the last train at 9.36pm Friends of Hunmanby Railway Station had a table at the entrance to each platform with free vegetables, fruit, and flowers for users of the station and the local community.

Hand sanitiser and Face Masks for each table were donated by two local traders JuiceEBitz on Hunmanby Industrial Estate and Science Equipment on Stonegate to promote safety and raise awareness of the need to ware face coverings unless exempt on station platforms.

The produce had been kindly donated by Hunmanby Garden Produce Association, Hunmanby Allotment holders, and local villagers.

Photo Above: Andy helped to promote the event on social-media, weather was superb. The Harvest Giveaway was promoted as an all-day event, and that the tables would be topped up throughout the day, thus there was a steady succession of local residents and rail users to the event from early morning to late evening.

Above: Rev. Nigel Spencer attended, some impressive vegetables grown on the local allotments, by Hunmanby Garden Produce Association were provided for the Harvest Service in the local Methodist Church, and after the service taken to Westway Open Arms Project in Scarborough.
