This route starts at the village railway station, it gives the option of returning by train, or choosing one of the other walking routes back to Hunmanby to make a longer circular walk.
In the information racks on the Scarborough Platform (Number 2) there are leaflets for the Hunmanby in Bloom flower trail and the Hunmanby History Group 'Heritage trail'. Both have maps and describe the history of the village and location of the flower beds and open spaces maintained by the village community.

Turning right out of the station the new signs installed by Scarborough Borough Council point the way to the village along Bridlington Street, past The Folly on your left. The walk is through the heart of the village, which has good facilities. See link to what Hunmanby has to offer webpage
Continue up Church Hill, past All Saints Church on your right, and just before the K2 listed telephone box, descend on the footpath into Stonegate, look to your left at the finger post and Sebastopol Corner flower bed. The descent down Stonegate gives time to appreciate the old chalk houses dating back to the 18th Century.

Go past the Community Centre and take the first turning on your left, Bowling Green Lane. Continue past the footpath that leads to Bowling Green play area, and instead look for the old metal footpath sign on your left. The takes you down a path between the houses, in Spring there are snowdrops in the banking. The path emerges at Outgaits Lane, cross this and continue along the footpath on the opposite side of the road. The path can be a bit muddy in winter, but village volunteers have spent time aiming to reduce this problem. The well walked path continues over the fields crossing a couple of drainage ditches that are part of the River Hertford.
The path emerges on the A165 coast road, here cross the road to the footpath on the opposite side and way the short distance to the entrance to Lowfield Farm and a tree lined farm track that leads to the farm, continue along the track and through the caravan site. When the farm track ends, take the short footpath that leads to a crossroads with another footpath. Here turn right, along the Centenary Way and over the old brick railway bridge, past the entrance to Filey golf course club house, enjoy the sea view, as the Centenary Way briefly joins the cliff top path, with a great view over Filey Bay, one way to Filey Brigg, the other to white chalk cliffs of Speeton, before descending the steps into Martin's Ravine. bear right and walk along Royal Parade with it's beech huts, toilets and a cafe. At the paddling pool, bear left to cross Crescent Hill with its cobbles then along The Beach Road and The Promenade with its well looked after benches, lamp posts and railings, watch out for the fishes and the sculptures. The level walk takes you to Cobble Landing, chance here for an ice cream, toilets or to look at the boats and a closer view of Filey Brigg. Walk up Church Ravine, on your right look for the footpath that leads into the woodland, and offers a nice walk, the church above you is St Oswalds. The footpath leads you over the 1847 Cast Iron bridge built in Stanningley near Leeds, then up quaint Church Street, turn briefly fright into Mitford Street, to join the A1039, turn left to the roundabout with its well the maintained flower beds. Here cross the road to take the road up to Filey Railway Station.
