MINUTES OF COMMITTEE MEETING OF COLDEAST DRIVE RESIDENTS’ ASSOCIATION

HELD ON FRIDAY 19th MAY 2023 AT 44 ROTHSCHILD DRIVE AT 2 P.M.

PRESENT:  Allan Duncan, Diana Hindle, Stuart Kimber, Tom Middleditch

APOLOGIES: Apologies were received from Tony Amber

MINUTES OF PREVIOUS MEETING:  The Minutes of the previous meeting were reviewed and agreed.

GARDEN PARTY:  Diana reported that she had met with The Mansion, and they had agreed to offer a 10% discount on all food and drink for those attending.                                       Tom’s father had confirmed that he was able to supply the miniature train and lorries for free rides.                                                                                                                                                  It was agreed that Allan would contact the local businesses at Locks Heath Shopping Centre to ask for donations as raffle prizes.   Diana asked that all Committee members keep the receipts of prizes they had purchased.                                                                                            Stuart and Allan offered to ‘deliver’ the posters promoting the Event to AW1, AW2 and Nightingales once they had been printed.   Diana and Tom to arrange the printing.           Allan would ask Fareham Community Hospital and Brook Lane Surgery if they would put the posters up.                                                                                                                                                           Stuart agreed to ask a neighbour if she could help run some activities for kids.

COMMUNAL GARDENING:  Allan reported that ERMC were considering putting the gardening contract out for rebidding -it was agreed to ensure that the Committee had the opportunity to be involved in the process, as ERMC had not been effective in appointing a quality company.                                                                                                                                     It was agreed that the claim made by ERMC that Allan had told residents to complain to the Committee and not them was completely false.

FORMATION OF A MANAGEMENT COMPANY: Allan reported that Homes England were appointing a new Director to ManCo Board, who had experience in handovers to Residents and in running a Management Company.   Jon Byrom had asked for a list of problems that ERMC had caused the CDRA.   It was agreed that Allan would draft out an email reply for approval by all the Committee.

THE FUTURE ROLE OF THE CDRA:  It was agreed to hold the AGM in September to be preceded by a speaker of local interest.  

NEXT MEETING:  The next meeting will be held on Friday 23rd June at 54Rothschild (if convenient for Tony and Carol), commencing 3 p.m.
