Tennis Court

The tennis court can be found on the allotment site, which is accessed by a lane between houses on the Clacton Road.  It can only be arrived at on foot, vehicle access to the site is strictly for allotment holders only.

In the early 1970's local resident Mr Garrod approached the Parish Council to get permission to build a tennis court.  Thorrington Tennis Club was formed and the court made available to paying members.

The court itself has remained largely unchanged but a number of different residents managed the club over the years until 2019.  After failing to find new organisers, Thorrington Tennis Club was unable to continue and the Parish Council was asked to take the court on

The Parish Council decided that if they took over the court it should be free for all residents to use.  It remains locked when not in use to protect the equipment.  If you would like to use the court the key can be obtained from the local shop found on the main road opposite the lane to the site.

From the beginning of November onwards the net is removed so that it is not damaged by the weather.  It is reinstalled in April and the court then available to use.
