Councillors are local people elected by the residents to represent them.  Once seated on the Council, Councillors are expected to attend meetings, where matters concerning the village are discussed and decisions made via a majority vote.  Each Councillor has an equal vote in the decisions taken at meetings, in the event of a tied vote, the Chairman has the casting vote.  A Councillor has no statutory authority to make decisions.

The Chairman, Vice-Chairman, the representative roles and any committees are agreed to by the Council each May.

Below are the current elected Parish Councillors, District Councillors, County Councillor and MP representing the residents of Thorrington village.

Parish Councillors - 9 seats, 4 currently vacant (for more information about how to become a councillor please see our vacancies page)

The role each Councillor has been allocated is their responsibility to report on and does not delegate power to that individual Councillor, all matters concerning Council operations or property must be made at a full meeting.
