Neighbourhood Conversations about Air Quality

Tuesday 05 July 2016

2 Kingston Council Neighbourhood conversations around the theme of air quality, one in the Town Centre and one in South of the Borough.

Following an extensive consultation exercise the Royal Borough of Kingston has recently updated its Air Quality Action Plan in order to look at how to prevent deterioration of, and ultimately improve, air quality in the Borough between January 2016 and December 2021. RBK like most London Boroughs exceeds the Government's target on annual mean nitrogen dioxide (NO2) and daily mean particulates (PM10) in certain locations. To tackle this, the plan is to establish an Air Quality Management Area across the Borough to work towards improved air quality objectives such those as required under Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 and other metropolitan regulations.

The sessions will include an Air Quality 101 with respect to the challenges in Kingston; a series of Q&As with expert representatives and discussions / conversations on what people would like to see happen going forward.
