Hi all,

I've added a big To-Do List of ideas in the Noticeboard, for potential future development of the Voice platform.

I welcome any suggested additions to the list, of course. But even more I would welcome input on which things you think would be most important to you, and which you don't really think matter.

This can also be discussed on Voice User Group zoom chats.

It's important that the limited time available to develop Voice is spent on the things that are most important to the users of the system.

When suggesting things, please consider not only what is most important for you, but also what you think would be generally useful for all users of the platform. A feature that can be used by hundreds of Voice sites is much more beneficial than one that can only be used by a few!

My current thinking (subject to change!) is that I will work on these two bigger tasks over the coming months:

  1. Two factor authentication for administrators - e.g., using a 6 digit code sent to email to verify your address and prove who you are before administering a site.
    Use the same system for account creation and forgotten passwords, instead of sending a clickable link to email.
  2. Making the backend admin properly responsive and work well on mobile/tablet devices (which will feature improvements to the Site Map tree too)

And into that, throw in any small "quick win" type tasks that people highlight as being really useful.

I would also hugely welcome any volunteers who could help out with editing & improving the Documentation resources. In particular creating help sheets would be great I think.

Hi Joe

That's a list for sure...!

As mentioned yesterday for us 2MFA is important.

Looking at the rest of your list, for us, I think prioities would be:-

Content Management

  • Bulk management of Assets (e.g., select lots to move to a folder) Yes and I'd say bulk delete 
  • Site Map tree can get very bit and unwieldy. Make this expandable/scrollable, or rethink how it works. YES and I would add the Assets library to get the same treatment. We have loads of images and documents and (due to poor management in the past - our fault!) it's hard to navigate the list which just appears in one (very long!) column

Backend/Admin

Allow multiple of the same apps to be created. - Yes please

Reports/Stats

We use google and never use Voice, so happy to see this dropped.

Thanks for all the work you (and colleagues) do - Voice is a great resource!
