My current thinking (subject to change!) is that I will work on these two bigger tasks over the coming months:

1. Two factor authentication for administrators - e.g., using a 6 digit code sent to email to verify your address and prove who you are before administering a site.
   Use the same system for account creation and forgotten passwords, instead of sending a clickable link to email.
2. Making the backend admin properly responsive and work well on mobile/tablet devices (which will feature improvements to the Site Map tree too)

And into that, throw in any small "quick win" type tasks that people highlight as being really useful.

I would also hugely welcome any volunteers who could help out with editing & improving the Documentation resources. In particular creating help sheets would be great I think.
