Help in Elstead

Help in Elstead - For People in Elstead - By People in Elstead

Help in Elstead is a voluntary organisation, run by Elstead villagers. We offer support in all sorts of ways to those without access to other resources. Our service is available to those living within 2 miles of the village green.

The sort of help we give is:-
  • Transport for hospital and other visits
  • Transport for shopping etc.
  • Prescription and pension collection
  • Sitting to relieve carers
  • Form filling
  • Small practical jobs such as changing light bulbs

Phone 01252 702 702 between 10.0 - 12.0 Monday - Friday

to contact the duty officer and arrange a service.

Normally at least 24 hours notice is needed to make arrangements.

Car journeys are charged at 45p/mile.

All volunteers have been CRB checked by the Police.

Help in Elstead was founded in 1995 with the help of the Surrey Voluntary Services Council, who had identified a need for such an organisation.

We obtained three generous grants when the scheme was launched, since when we have been funded by the donations we receive from clients and grants from Elstead Parish Council and The Community Foundation for Surrey, all of which means we don't have to fund raise to keep operating. Clients pay 45p per mile for car journeys, and this is what the drivers receive to cover their costs - their time is given free. Any surplus donation goes into the funds to help offset phone charges etc. Donations are sometimes made from Help in Elstead to special village projects, such as the Thursley Road playground appeal.

Since the start we have completed over 3,000 jobs and each year the number of requests rises.

CAN YOU HELP ?

We would love to hear from anyone who would like to help occasionally

There is no need to have a regular commitment but becoming involved is

an excellent way of finding out more about village life and of meeting new people.
