The Parish Council maintains three recreations grounds each with a playground (Howe Street, Ford End and Great Waltham). The Parish Council has been updating the wooden equipment that has come to the end of its operational life.
The Parish Council is activley raising fund to replace the aging wooden equipment at Great Waltham Recreation Ground.
We have been working with our local schools , pre schools and other organisations to build a file of requirements.
Below is our vision for the next 20 years.
Project Playground – Phase 2 is here!
Thanks to the incredible support from our community, Phase 1 of our Great Waltham Recreation Ground playground improvements is now complete! And the Parish Council is ready to launch Project Playground – Phase 2.
Our next goal is to transform the playground for our older children, with exciting new equipment designed to offer new challenges, opportunities to explore and plenty of fun! Obstacle courses, climbing frames, monkey bars, swings, slides and lots of new adventure all accessible by new all-weather paths making both play areas available all year round. We want to create a space that children can grow into and enjoy for years to come.
The total cost for this part of the project is £102,000. We really want to make this happen in 2027 and while the Council are hoping to fund the majority of this we still need everyone’s help to make Phase 2 happen. Whether you can donate £5, £10, £20 or whatever you’re able to give, every contribution will help us reach our goal. The quicker we reach our target the sooner we can get started!
And if donating isn't possible, sharing this post with friends, family and local groups is just as important. The more people who know about Great Waltham Project Playground, the further we can spread the word.

All businesses who donate towards the project will have the opportunity to be recognised on a Project Playground sponsor board when complete, which will be displayed in the playground as a thank you for helping us invest in our village and children.
