On September 14th the hall opened it's doors to the community in order to host the first cinema night for quite some time. This required several phone calls to Hans Unker, crawling into the back of the store room in search of the movie screen and the borrowing of a sound system from a local resident (thanks Patrick!).
The first movie choice was really a no-brainer. It has being doing the rounds of local village halls this summer and had been requested many times by local interested people. The film was of course "It Will Never Work", a documentary about local fisherman Hans Unker's attempts to create an electrically powered fishing boat.
The hall was packed for this fascinating story. Hans and the documentary film maker Joe both introduced the movie and carried out a Q&A session afterwards.
We hope to be able to run further movie nights in the future now we know this is something the community enjoys. One suggestion for future films...bring your own cushion...the chairs are not the most comfortable for prolonged use.
