Dear member,
Meeting held on 30th January 2020
19 members have renewed for 2020 and I do hope more of you will come along to our next meeting at the end of the month. We spent a pleasant evening with Marilyn busy with money and cheques whilst people racked their brains to identify specimens in my 3D quiz. Stella go the most points and won an appropriate bag of mixed bird seed, to encourage birds into her lovely garden. Ken gave us another jolly good slide show – memories of his favourite places that he has visited over the years. Eileen judged the competitions with the following results:
SPECIAL CLASSES
1. 3 mixed/unmixed stems of early spring flowers e.g. aconites, crested iris, hellebores or snowdrops: Margaret 8 (hellebores): Stella 7 (hellebores)
2. 3 stems of winter flowering shrub Jose 8 (japonica nivalis/mahonia aquifolium/clematis cirrhosa freckles) Margaret 7 (garriya)
3. ‘Winter Mixture’ (Floral Art - NPM) Jose 8
OTHER CLASSES
Cut Flowers: Jose 6 (camelias)
Pot Plants: Barbara 9 (unknown possibly pentas lanceolata) wins her cup: Jose 7 (succulent)
Veg: Jose 5 (3 red onions)
Membership
Membership remains at £10 p.a. please re-enrol, bring a friend, and support the society in a year when we will be planning for our 75th Anniversary in 2021.
Once again, we will be holding a plant sale on a designated Saturday afternoon in May, so get sowing. More information on the 2020 programme available on our website e-voice.org.uk/tvhs/ or surreycommunity.info/tvhs/ and also at the January meeting.

By popular demand a return visit of Paolo Arrigo with the second part of Italy from Seed to Plate with more emphasis on the plate and some tasty treats
