Meeting held on 31st January

 

A small group of members turned up for our member’s night and enrolment. It was no surprise with the threat of snow which fortunately did not arrive until we were leaving the hall. Ken presented a lovely slide show with all manner of photographs that he had taken over the last, oh I don’t know how many years. It was refreshing to see some familiar sights including, alas, the old Grammar School now such a distant memory. There were pictures of places now much changed, some for the worse and others the better and familiar faces such as Bill Middleton sitting centre stage at one of the shows.

There were just a few entries in the monthly competitions probably due to the cold weather. The Floral Art topic will be rerun later in the year.

 Results were:

  3. ‘Winter – Ikebana style’ (Floral Art - NPM) N/A

  1. Fish ‘n Chip Supper March 28th in celebration of Ken’s 90th Birthday. Please put your name on the list at the February meeting together with your choice from Cod ‘n Chips or Chicken ‘n Chips Advance payment of £10.00 needed to allow us to place the order. Bring your own drinks on the night.
  2. Plant Fair – this is scheduled for Saturday 11th May between 2-4 p.m. Please get your plants started into growth for this event. All profits to the Society – the more plants there are to sell, the more money we can make. Set up 1p.m.
  3. Membership remains at £10 p.a. please re-enrol, bring a friend, and support your society.
  4. Please note 150 pts needed for a £5 voucher in our monthly competitions.
  5. Our notice board contains information on our first 6-month programme.
