Langley Park Races

What a fabulous evening for our first race of the series. It was not only a record turnout but we've never had to deal with quite so many people turning up to enter on the night. Hats off to our volunteers for coping so well, and apologies again to anyone who had to wait for a car park place. (Hopefully the stress produced a little extra adrenaline to fuel you up the hills!)

Please note we're unlikely to have entries on the night for the next two races, as they're already fairly full. If you want to secure a place, please enter online in advance.

First man home was Pete Flewitt of Ealing Southall & Middlesex, in his first outing at Langley Park. The first female was Sarah Gerrie, a previous winner, also representing ESM.

With normal rival Charlie Edwards away for this race, Patrick Butler of Burnham Joggers probably thought it was his turn to win again, but he had to settle for second place. (He can blame the fact that he ran the Boston Marathon last month, followed six days later by the London Marathon).

A pity we didn't have a mob match award - it would have been closely contested between Hayes & Harlington (16 runners), Ealing Southall & Middlesex (also 16) and Burnham Joggers (15). It's always great to see so many different club vests represented, and well done to all the recent couch-to-5K graduates from Hayes & Harlington for completing this challenging course.

We couldn't stage this event without the help from the Friends of Langley Park, who marshal all the key turns on the course, so thank you to them too.
