Can I remove the message below that appears at top of my website and is confusing to those who want to join our society rather than the website?

I've noticed other websites do not have this on top of their websites.

Yes indeed - you can control whether or not people are allowed to join your website by setting the Membership Policy.

If you go into the admin pages of your site then go to Users & Permissions -> Membership Policy you can choose from one of three options:

  • Open (anyone can join)
  • Closed (membership requires approval)
  • Private (invitation only)

If you choose Private then the membership link will not be shown, and users will not be able to become a member of your site unless you explicitly invite them to be (from the Users & Permissions -> Members page of your site).

This doesn't seem to remove the link from the logging-in page though.

At the bottom of that page there still is an option to register for an approval.

Are you planning to rectify this?

Yes, it says:

"New Users

You need a personal login to allow you to contribute to the content on this site.

Register now for your login to Voice »"

Hi Kris,

Thanks for getting on contact. The option to switch your community to a private membership wil remove the link at the top of the page to become a member.

However the link at the bottom of the page that you are referring to is to become a member of the whole e-voice service (to be alowed to become a member of other websites on e-voice or to create a new community website).

I understand the wording is a little confusing and we'll look at making it more clear in our next update.

thank you for your reply.

would consider placing that registration in some other place though? i think it can be misleading for some members who dont fully understand the difference between their local community website and regards kris
