Hi.
The form for uploading an image asks for a description for the alt field to help those using screen readers. The description is also put in the title field, which appears when the user puts the mouse pointer on it. This doesn't help the visually impaired and only tells other users what they can see for themselves. I've used the source code editor to delete the titles for the images I've uploaded.
Can you stop the description going into a title field or, better still, provide separate inputs for the alt and title fields?
Thanks

By default yes the Description of the image in the Assets Library is used as both the alt text and the title when adding images using the wysiwyg editor, though you can easily change this when adding the image if you like.
Though, if you don't change it, and leave it as both the title and the alt text, does that do any harm?
I'm not sure I see what the problem is here? I guess it's just that it's providing unnecessary information for people who can see the image? (though, conversely, perhaps sometimes you might want to put some interesting nugget of information in there!?)
Thanks
Joe
Hello, Joe.
Having the same description in both alt and title doesn't do any harm but I'm not sure it does any good either. I usually like to have a physical description in alt to help the visually impaired and a name or explanation in title to help all users, eg "A tall man wearing a grey suit" in alt and "John Smith" in title. Admittedly those of us familiar with html can change the title in the source code editor.

I see you have created a separate input for the title. Many thanks.
