The choir first met in the Spring of 2015 with 13 members. It has grown rapidly and now has over 30 participants. However, new members are always welcome.
If you enjoy singing then you fulfil the qualification for joining the choir - no audition, no requirement to read music, no solos.
We meet during school term times on a Thursday evening in the Primary School Hall between 7.00 pm and 9.00 pm (coffee/biscuit break from 8.00 pm to 8.15 pm). The charge is £7 per session; the initial session is free. Come along and enjoy the singing and company of other members.
The Choir restarts after the Christmas break on Thursday 8th January 2026
We usually perform during the Village Christmas Tree Festival and sometime in the Spring/Summer term, but members are not required to take part.
COME ALONG, SING, AND GO HOME ELATED AND REFRESHED – IT IS GREAT FUN AND AN ENJOYABLE SOCIAL EVENT
Saturday 6th December 2025 saw the choir singing six songs and also sing carols with the everyone there as part of the Community Network’s Christmas Tree Festival concert in Great Waltham Church.
On Thursday 11th December members of the choir sang carols around the splendidly lit tree at Banbury Square with 20 or so villagers joining in (perhaps you were there). The Christmas period also saw the members of the choir sing carols at the Community Network’s Pudding event, at the Great Waltham School Christmas Fayre, at the Walthambury WI Christmas meeting and, finally, in the bar at the Green Man in Howe Street, the final performance of the year.
As guests of the Chelmsford Male Voice Choir at their October concert at the Church, the choir performed in two slots, three songs in each, some of which included audience participation. The Selion Swing Band were also guests and gave an exciting session which prompted spontaneous dancing in the aisles. The finale saw all performers and the audience singing ‘Big Spender’ to everyone’s great joy.
The annual summer soiree and BBQ was held on 11th July 2025 at Great Waltham School. The choir went through ten of the songs it had been working on through the previous year, some known to the audience, some not. The school hall was full with 50 in the audience all of whom enjoyed the and their opportunities to participate.
