Langley Park Races

Thank you all for attending the first race of this year's summer series, the first since 2019. The rhododendrons looked at their finest and the weather conditions were almost ideal - the thunder and lightning fortunately held off till long after we had left the park!

Congratulations to the individual winners, Rob Foster (Datchet Dashers) and Sarah Quantrill (Chiltern Harriers). A group of three contested the men's race, with Patrick Butler (Burnham Joggers) and Charlie Edwards (hillingdon AC) never too far behind Rob. Sarah took the lead early in the women's race for Chiltern Harriers but second-placed Jennifer Coleman of Burnham Joggers always had her in her sights.

Congratulations to Yestin Linton-Smith, also of Burnham Joggers, who celebrated his birthday last night. Between setting up and dismantling the PA system and running the race, he apparently also found time to enjoy a well-earned slice of cake.

Thanks once again to members of the 'Friends of Langley Park' group who covered almost all the marshalling positions on the course. The Friends of Langley Park are volunteers who work with Buckinghamshire's Country Parks Team in the management and restoration of this historic Grade II listed parkland, and some of your entry fees are used to support their work.

Thanks also to Emmanuel for doing a late shift at San Remo cafe, meaning we had access to refreshments throughout the event. Hopefully it might be ice-cream weather for the second race, which will be on Wednesday 15th June at 7pm.
