Hi, I'm in the process of a buildinga website for our model engineering society. i've reached the stage where I want to invite the society officials to join. I've followed the instructions to invite people to join but, some people receive the invitations but most do not! I've double and triple checked the -mail addresses I've been provided with by sending e-mails from my personal e-mail and that works. What am I doing wrong?

Hi,

Sorry to hear you're having problems with email receiving. Sometimes email servers block mails from Voice thinking that it's spam - though I do try hard to comply with everything that makes us look un-spammy!

If you could email me at admin@e-voice.org.uk with the addresses that aren't receiving the emails then I will investigate further.

Thanks

Joe

I can see that currently there is a problem with Voice delivering emails to a few domains - in particular talktalk.net, virginmedia.com, ntlworld.com, and blueyonder.com.

This is because our outgoing email IP address has been put into a blacklist which these ISPs use. I have requested removal from the blacklist, which usually takes a few days.

I'll update on here when I have more news!

Thanks

Joe

Thanks Joe, I'll wait a few days and try again. At least one of the emails was to virgin media.com so that sounds like the issue.

Our IP has been removed from the blacklist so most emails are now sending correctly. The only remaining problem seems to be with tiscali/talktalk which seem to still think we're in the blacklist even though we aren't. Hopefully they notice this soon and start accepting email!

As a separate task I will look into integrating Voice with an email sending service such as Postmark or SendGrid. The idea is that we send the emails via them and they route via different IP addresses and continually monitor for bounces and re-route until they succeed.

On the plus side this would reduce the chance of future emails failing. The downside being integration time and ongoing subscription fees.

Thanks

Joe
