Hi all,

In an attempt to stop the annoying spam messages that sometimes come from the Leave Feedback page on websites, I have added a Captcha to the feedback form.

It's the usual sort of thing - where you tick a box to say you're human, and if required you'll be asked to identify some pictures.

The rules are:

  • You only get asked to prove you're human if you aren't logged in.
  • You'll be asked at most once per session - once you've proved you're not a robot you're good to go until your next visit.
  • If you've done the Captcha it relaxes the rules over how many words must be in the subject/message of the feedback.
  • Even then, anonymous users still can't submit URLs in the Message.

I suggest you try this out now with your own website. First log out, then go to the Leave Feedback page in your site's footer, and see how you go.

Please report back here if you have any comments!

I don't think it's a great solution for the visually impaired, although it claims to be fully accessible. I think the best option here is to log in so that you don't ever see the captcha!

So what was that thing about Postcodes?

Ah yes I'm glad you asked! You can try heading over to the Websites A-Z and searching by postcode to see what happens!

Thanks

Joe
