Has anyone had experience of using a 'hit' counter? The free ones that I have found all link to an external site and I am reluctant to do this.

I think they went out of fashion in the 90s ;-)

You can find out the number of visits to your site from the admin pages in the Reports section. Though putting a number on a publicly visible page isn't really the done thing these days!
