Known flooding areas in the village

Bottom of Raikes Road

This has improved of late as the drains have been flushed,  But houses and gardens close to the road can flood. Driving too fast in the flood can cause a backwash into properties like Raikes Farm for example.

Water Lane drain

This is the highway drain that flows down to the water treatment plant which can overflow in wet weather flooding the path.

Copp Lane

The area around Gradwell's Farm is liable to flooding at any time of the year.  This is due to slow draining of surface water.

Pinfold area

The flooding occurs at the entrance to the Pinfold and on the unadopted road. As this is private land there is little we can do about it.

Bottom of St Mary's Road

This is on the bend at the bottom of St Mary's Road and is created by slow moving surface water

White's Bridge

This is on the main A586 and is caused by the levees being higher than the road bridge.  In wet weather pass with care especially at night as it is not lit.

Edge of Square

This is at the exit to the Square with its junction with Leckonby Street. This is caused by road damage.

Lancaster Avenue

This is caused by slow moving surface water.
