Hendred Handicap

This is an annual, club organised, event that involves a race up a big 'ol hill to the Ridgeway, and back. As it is a handicap race, everyone has a chance to win.

When?

The race usually takes place on a Tuesday evening sometime in June or July. The 2019 event is 25 June.

Where?

We start at a pub in East Hendred, run through the pretty village and then on up the hill until we reach The Ridgeway. At which point we turn around and head back down the hill (probably a lot faster than we went up it).

How far?

The route is about 5.5 miles, half up and half down.

Who?

This is a club only event although there will be a small entry fee for anyone who wants to run as a guest. This money then goes to the charity (see why? below).

How?

Entry to the event is by an online form

All runners are handicapped based on their last 10 km race time. Therefore the runner with a 1h 20 min, 10 km race time will start before a runner with a 45 min time. Start times are calculated by Andrew's complicated and very secret formula. This means that anyone can win the race and we should all finish within 10 minutes of each other.

Why?

This event is in memory of a past member who sadly died in a car crash. We have a raffle and what is raised on the night (including the entry fee for guests) goes to the Cousins family for them to donate to a chosen charity.
