Buckinghamshire Students celebrate A Level Results Day

Thousands of young people across Buckinghamshire received their A Level results on Thursday 13th August, marking an important milestone  as they prepare for the next stage of their education, training or careers. Students collected A Level results alongside a range of other qualifications  including BTEC's, NVQ's after months of hard work and dedication.

Buckinghamshire Council congradulated students on their achievements and wishes them every sucess for the future. A range of support and advice on exam results is available via the Buckinghamshire Family Information Service. (17-08-26)

 

Buckinghamshire Council New Local Plan

Buckinghamshire Coiuncil is preparing a new local plan to guide where and how development should take place across the county up to 2045.

The council has reached the Regulation 19 (Publication) stage of the plan and is inviting representations on the proposed draft local plan for Buckinghamshire. This is the final statutory consultation stage before the plan is submitted to the Secretary of State. The plan, policies and supporting evidence are available on the council's web page at:

The consultation period runs  from Thursday 23rd July until 11:59pm on Sunday 6th September 2026. (30-07-26)

 

Growth fund investment  to bolster local economy

Buckinghamshire Council is releasing a £4.25 million fund to support jobs, skills and innovation in the county. The money will be invested in key  local industries from funds allocated specifically for this purpose. It will help to drive growth and opportunity  for residents through the Buckinghamshire Growth Fund. 

The decision marks the first major investment which was established following the transfer of the former Buckinghamshire three enterprise zones.  Two key industries are expected to benefit locally. The Robert Bosch Centre in Denham and the National Automony and Drone Innovation Centre at Westcott. (02-08-26)

 

Rotary Club of High Wycombe celebrates Centenary

Well-known names such as James Corden, Martin O'Neil, Tom Kerridge and Mike Clare all appeared in a specially produced film screened at the Rotary Club of High Wycombe Centenary Dinner on Friday 24th July. The Rotary Club celebrated 100 years of service to the town bringing together 245 guests.

The Countess Howe, His Majesty's Lord Lieutenant of Buckinghamshire  gave an addrress and toast to the club. This was proposed by Rotarian Bob Maskell, the Chair of Rotary Great Britian and Ireland. Guests also included Council Leader Steve Broadbent  and the Mayor of High Wycombe. Broadcaster and antiques specialist Eric Knowles was guest speaker with the evening hosted by magician and Master of Ceremonies Brandon Barrett.

The dinner followed the club's Community Day at Adams Park on 18th July as part of the year long programme marking the anniversary (30-07-26)

A stronger Buckinghamshire Council

Buckinghamshire Council has set out an ambitious five year plan for residents in the county. The new corporate plan will build on existing strenghts over the next five years to improve everyday life for residents. There will be more opportunities and more investment in communities, improvements to local infrastructure and support for vulnerable people.

The corporate plans is built around five priorities:

Opertunity and Aspiration for all

Shaping great places

Thriving communities

Supporting the most vulnerable

Quality and value

Residents will be able to track the councils's progress through regular public updates and an annual report. (23-07-26)

 

Proud of Bucks Awards 2026

Nearly 250 entries were received for this years Proud of Busks Awards.  Once again the awards showcased the remarkable strenght of community spirit across the county.

The awards were sponsored by the Clare Foundation to celebrate the outstanding contributions of local volunteers, organisations, groups and councils who have made a positive impasct on their communities. The awards took place on Monday 1st June during Volunteers Week  and include the following winners:

Switch Lanes CIC - Newcomer Award

Oscar Boyson - Young Volunteer of the year

Wooburn and Bourne End Parish Council - Town and Parish Council Community Award

Michelle Robinson-Boyce - Volunteer of the Year

Clare Clarke - Lifetime Achievement Award

Across all categories nomintaions highlighted the commitment of residents who go above and beyond to support their communities. (05-06-26)

 

New era for Parking

Buckinghamshire Council's new civil parking enforcement launched on Monday 1st June with APCOA Parking (UK) Limited now delivering operations across the county. The move will deliver a more reliable  and consistant service helping to keep streets safe and accessible for residents, businesses and visitors.

Under the new arrangements APCOA's Civil Enforement Officers will be deployed  where they are most needed and will be guided by an enforcement plan that sets minimum service levels seven days a week. The enforcement rules themselves remain unchanged.

Residents can continue to report parking concerns on "Fix My Street". (05-06-26)

 

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust

QVR March 2026

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has completed the purchase of the Queen Victoria Road site from Buckinghamshire Council. This marks a major step forward in plans to develop more neighbourhood based care for people across the High Wycombe area. The trust along with partners in the council, primary care, voluntary sector and mental health have committed to delivering neighbourhood health.

The large site offers flexibility for a wide range of future uses with existing buildings that can be adapted. The location includes around 180 parking spaces and an opportunity to move some services out of the Wycombe Hospital site.

The trust will not start using the new site for around a year while Buckinghamshire Council continues to use the existing buildings. The time will be used to work with partners, the public and staff to develop detailed proposals  and build on existing discussions. (09-04-26)
