INNER WHEEL CLUB

We continue to meet monthly via Zoom and are pleased that each month more members are managing to join us on our Zoom meetings. We continue to have speakers at our meetings and have had some interesting talks from various speakers. Fortunately, we have managed to continue raising funds for the local charities we are supporting. Our members have been donating the monies they would have usually paid for their lunches at our meetings to our charity funds. We have also raised money by holding a raffle with a difference.

In November, our members joined together to support the One Can food bank Christmas hamper campaign, where our members made some very generous donations of food and toiletries. We have also been fortunate to have a couple of our articles published in the Bucks free press, which has been great in publicising some of the work we do in the Inner Wheel.

On January 10th it was international Inner wheel day, and our members all lit a candle of friendship to commemorate the day.

The last few months have all made us greatful for the friendships and support the Inner wheel provide. If you are interested in joining the Inner wheel please contact her membership office kate Williamson on K.williamson@keme.co.uk.

IWC Candle of Friendship

Inner Wheel is an organisation set up in 1924 by women for women. It is now an International organisation with clubs on all continents and High Wycombe Inner Wheel Club, founded in 1945, is a proud member of that organisation.

Our three objectives are to promote true friendship, encourage the ideal of personal service and foster international understanding.

To this end, we raise funds for charities at local, national and international levels, usually by holding events to which friends and friends of friends are warmly welcome.

Sadly, because of Covid 19 and the lockdowns, we have been unable to hold such events but we continue to hold our monthly meetings via Zoom and have held competitions via Zoom as well, which has enabled us to continue to raise funds albeit in a limited way.

For 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 our Presidents chose four local charities for their respective years, in addition to other deserving bodies.

We are very pleased to say that, for 2019/2020 we raised over £7000, of which £6800 went to those four charities. One of our very deserving charities at the time, was the One Can Trust.

Our members were pleased to be able to present to One Can Trust donations to help fill Christmas hampers for families who might otherwise not be able to enjoy their Christmas.

Members of the Inner wheel of high Wycombe club have joined together to support the One Can Trust food bank with donations of Christmas food and toiletries. Demand for food for vulnerable families have dramatically increased during lockdown. The One Can Trust are trying to give each of the families they support a luxury Christmas food hamper to make their Christmas just a little bit special. Members of the Inner wheel were only too happy to help and very generously donated hundreds of items. The donations were presented to the One Can Trust on Friday 27th Nov by the president of High Wycombe Inner Wheel Jennie Evans and Inner Wheel international services officer and One Can trustee Peggy Peckham.
