Like all other clubs it has been a very challenging and difficult few months. We had lots of activities and fund-raising events planned but they are now on hold indefinitely.
We did manage to hold our charity lunch and auction in February which was a tremendous success. A satisfyingly large number of Inner Wheel members, Rotarians and many guests enjoyed a delicious lunch, followed by a talk from Tom Way. Tom described so eloquently how he became a wildlife photographer, using some beautiful and stunning photographs of lions, tigers, elephants and others to illustrate his many unforgettable experiences. This was followed by our charity auction and raffle which was efficiently and humorously run by David Sumpter. We were delighted to have been supported by several local businesses/supermarkets who generously donated auction and raffle prizes. The event raised just over £2,000 which will go towards our chosen charities for this year.
As we are unable to meet up for our monthly lunch meetings, our members have generously donated their lunch fees in order to continue to raise funds for our charities. Our committee have been holding virtual meetings using Zoom and have each been responsible for a group of our members to phone and check on their welfare and offer support as required.
