We have researched on line some of the archeaological records for Sturmer. We know of the tumulus near the church which may be Bronze age. We also have two arieal pictures of crop marks near Mere Cottage and on the golf course from the 1950s and 1970s.
Details of the ploughed out barrow at Mere Cottage have been found in the archives of the Haverhill and District Archeaological Group. The Group carried out a field walk there. We added their findings to our archives.
More recently we obtained pictures from Lidar showing more bronze age activity and a Roman road.
