MEFAS, providing services to the Community since 1968

MEFAS was set up in 1968 by former members of Kingston Civil Defence Corp which was being disbanded.  Those volunters decided that the skills they  learnt should not be lost.  MEFAS founder members were well experienced in First Aid and Search and Rescue techniques involving compromised buildings.

MEFAS continued practicing Civil Defence techniques and specialised teaching first aid to the public and, later became a registered charity.

Current members are continuing developing and enhancing their own First Aid skills and others in the borough.  Besides teaching public First Aid, trainers are qualified to teach HSE and OfSted compliant courses to Level 3.

In the current situation of Covid MEFAS is allowed under HSE guidelines to teach First Aid at Work with adjustments to training protocols.  Practical training is varied to avoid contact with others and allow 2 meter distancing.  Covid secure protocols are also in place to ensure student safety when attending training.  Under our Risk Assessment we have opted to train no more than 6 on each course.

MEFAS aims to be the premier First Aid training organisation in New Malden and surrounding areas and provides a range of courses at its own premises or at clients.  Please see below for further details.

Paediatric First Aid course is split into 2 units. Unit 1 covers Emergency First Aid and Unit 2 covers injuries and some childhool illnesses. Units 1 and 2 can be taken separately but to achieve Level 3 both Units must be completed within 6 weeks.

First Aid Training courses can be run at a clients premises or at the MEFAS HQ during the week.
