Community action for our environment
Greening Westbourne is a local environmental community campaign set up in response to growing concerns about climate change and environmental sustainability.
It was formed as part of a nationwide network of Greening campaigns.
Our community is centred on Westbourne, West Sussex, UK, on the border with Hampshire.
We hold a regular Christmas tree recycling event, and run various campaigns that promote cycling and walking and that help enhance and preserve our natural environment.
A major campaign right now is all about saving the River Ems, which is suffering because of the amount of water being taken from its underground sources.
Another big campaign is Westbourne Wildlife Watch, which encourages local people to report wildlife sightings, which can be used as evidence to protect local habitats.
We are also renewing our activity on the climate change front.
Keep up with our news by following us on Facebook and subscribing to our e-newsletter.
