Footpath edging
The Friends of Sutton Green have made a start reclaiming the edges of the paths that bound and cross The Green. Various locations had grass encroaching some 18 inches onto the tarmac.
As shown in the photo alongside, there's now an 18" wider path along part of the road (also named The Green) at the back of the grass area and behind the exercise equipment. The downside is that it looks like doing all the footpath edges could turn out to be a bit like painting the Forth Bridge.....
It is a pity that large areas of grass have been turned to mud despite our efforts to rake away the fallen leaves. The leaves weren't picked up and blew back across the Green and killed off a lot of grass, leaving muddy areas when spring came around. We hope to arrange for some grass seed and will be putting a request out for help sowing that.
