Active Travel

What's Active Travel?

Active travel means making everyday journeys by walking, cycling or other physically active ways of getting around. In Cricklade, of course, we include our many horse riders as active travellers. Note that this can include travel to a bus stop, walking to the shops. It is about increasing the amount of exercise we get while going about our daily lives as well as the more intentional 'going on' a cycle or horse ride, or 'going for' a walk or run.

Active travel is truly a 'win, win, win'. It provides exercise and fresh air, supporting health. It has almost no greenhouse gas emissions, and is very low cost. Far, far, better than jumping in a car.

To promote active travel we need to make it safe, easy and enjoyable. We will be looking at all these things and welcome contact from anyone. An Active Travel Group has been formed in Cricklade and Latton, click here for more details.

Cricklade Rights of Way

The map shows the public rights of way: footpaths, bridlepaths etc, in and around Cricklade. It has been taken from the Wiltshire Council Rights of Way Explorer.

This does not show the railway line which is also designated as part of Route 45, which is part of the National Cycle Network from Salisbury to Chester.
