Alexander (Sonny) Corstorphine
It was with great sadness that we, his fellow CRA members, learned of the death of Sonny Corstorphine on the 17th December, 2014, at the age of 83. A Dyker born and bred, Sonny was one of the founding members of the CRA, and played a leading role in the development of the Association into a fully constituted and recognised organisation. One of our main aims is to protect the historic identity of Cellardyke, and no-one has done more to further that aim, or been prouder to have been a Dyker. ( Sonny’s informative history of Cellardyke can be found on this website.)
After retiring from his work as a telephone engineer, Sonny returned to one of his earlier loves, and was to be seen in the 1980s and 90s sailing out of Cellardyke harbour in his yacht, Sunny Seas. He was pre-deceased by his beloved wife Shirley, a primary teacher, who shared in some of his sailing expeditions with the CCC – Cellardyke Cruising Club, now sadly defunct.
Sonny will be greatly missed, and our sincere condolences go to his sons, including Davie, also a CRA member, and all grandchildren and other family members.
