2023 REVIEW OF PARLIAMENTARY CONSTITUENCIES

The Boundary Commission for England is reviewing the Parliamentary constituency boundaries for England.  It is likely that their proposals will be implemented, possibly in time for an election in 2024.  The Commission is presently consulting on their proposals from 22 February to 4th April 2022. Their proposals include a proposal to create a new cross boundary constituency which will include Ashen extending from Halstead in the south and up to but not including Bury to the north but including Haverhill.  This is driven by the relationship between population and the number of MPs together with issues of local ties as well as local authority boundaries.  The reasoning is set out in their report at https://boundarycommissionforengland.independent.gov.uk/2023-review/eastern/

It will however mean that Ashen no longer forms part of the Braintree constituency for the purposes of electing our Member of Parliamentbut will be part of the newly formed constituency.  Anyone who wishes to make a representation as part of this consultation should do so before 4th April 2022 to the Boundary Commission for England, whose contact details are:
