YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY FOOTBALL TEAM!

And update from the Chairman, Oliver Witney

SPONSORS. A volunteer lead club such as ours is always welcome to new sponsors who want to help a local community organisation such as ours.

The way we set up our club is that parents have to purchase their children’s football kits, and the kits are theirs to keep. This enables us to make sure we budget effectively and children don’t have multiple kits coming out of the budget we need for other items!

This season we have had three sponsors come forward; Premium Solid Surface (a parent in our U15s Yellows group), Papa Johns High Wycombe (a parent in our U15s Greens group) and Red Kite, a local community housing association have sponsored our U14s. And thanks to one of our U12s parents, Octopus Energy have also supplied us with a new kit that can be given to a team! This has enabled 55 players to have new kits without the club or parents having to put out any costs.

We have also had a generous donation from Mr Signs, who have provided us with a high quality vinyl banner that is now on display outside our entrance to our pitches on Four Ashes Recreation Ground.

Sadly, we have had to disband out U16s team due to a lack of commitment from players. Having to field 9 players in an 11-a-side game for multiple weekends, it wasn’t fair on those that were turning up and having to put additional effort in to make up for the other players. Some players have moved to our U18s team and some have moved to other clubs. We thank the players that did attend regularly and a big thanks to Khalid, who has manged the team for many years.

On a positive note, we have had a number of players join us in our SMC (Saturday Morning Club) which is for children from Reception through to Year 3 and it is wonderful to see young players starting to join. We have also had a waiting list for U12s (those in Year 6 and 7) but last week we have had someone come forward to help start an additional team. This does mean there are now spaces in this age group should anyone wish to.

We do have spaces in U9s and U10s age groups (Years 4 and 5) and we are hoping an extra volunteer or two will be able to help out to create a second team.

Results for our teams have mostly been positive and its great to see so many goals scored. We also managed to hire a VEO camera for our U15s on a weekend which enables the players to rewatch the whole game from the comfort of their sofa!

Our next challenge is keep the momentum going over the Christmas period and hopefully we are able to prepare new teams for matches, enabling more children in the local area to play football.
