A history of the village from Domesday to the present day
This is a factual account of the history of Great Eccleston. I have kept my own opinions to the barest minimum and have verified all facts as far as is possible, so you can rely upon it just as much as you can upon any modern work which is based on historical records, rather than hearsay.
The website is a collaborative long term project and has been devised to show the history of Great Eccleston and to test bed new techniques in web design. Over the past two years we have amassed over 1000 pieces of historical evidence about the village which has to be cross checked and then checked for copyright. The earliest artifact dates back to the 10th century. Over the next few years we plan to populate the site and its sub-sites with historical facts about the village.
