The purpose of The Friends of Blackburn Old Cemetery is to restore and maintain this historical site. With a large following on social media we have helped many people to discover the graves of their ancestors. The following is a copy of e-mail recently recieved from a gentleman we were able to help - "Visited the cemetery on Monday 16th August 2021 and met Sylvia and Morris. Weather was a bit overcast but this was more than made up by the welcome and guidance to solve a family mystery. The team were lovely and helped me so much and with a bit of perseverance and local knowledge of the graves we found my long lost ancestors. I then found some more key information in Blackburn library. It made a lovely trip especially after travelling 200 miles by train to go on a journey of discovery and find the answers! Many thanks, Peter Moore related to the Ratcliffes of Blackburn."
Working parties are held on Monday and Wednesday mornings when a core group of volunteers carry out various tasks to achieve this end.
