Nannie Grace's favourite dishes were xitt-koddi-nustem (rice, curry, and fish), accompanied by a simple side dish of vegetable foogath or bhajis. Many of the fish and vegetable dishes on this site are her recipes—ones she enjoyed and cooked regularly.

In the 1980s, on their weekly shopping trips to Edmonton, Grace and Narciso would regularly stop off at Lobo’s fishmongers on the High Street to see what was on display that week.

If you stopped by unexpectedly on a Saturday evening, you would often find them sitting down to a meal of fried kingfish, ladyfinger and prawn caldeen, and rice—alongside a glass or two of sherry!
