Wychbury Road Allotments held their 3rd Open Day, on Saturday 5th July 12 noon - 4pm
The event helped demonstrate the progress that has been made on site with an active committe over the past few years, fund raising and organising charity events.
We were blessed with a wonderful sunny afternoon and our car parking area was the focal point with the following activities circling the area including grand raffle, bbq, refreshments, bric a brac, plant sale, children's colouring competition, scarecrow competition, guess the name of the doll, tarot reading and coin game.
The event was well attended by local residents, plot holders and also included a visit from local councillors Vivienne Barton and Bruce Lines who had a busy schedule drawing the Grand Raffle, judging the colouring competition and choosing the best scarecrow entry.
The majority of the proceeds raised are being donated to Birmingham St. Mary's Hospice and this included money raised from the Grand Raffle operated by Martin, BBQ from Sarah and Tarot readings by Lynn. We have raised over £1,300 that will go to support this worthy cause.
We received some fantastic donations from local business outlets, including: Waitrose, Apple, Hozelock - www.hozelock.com, Bartley Green Garage - Car MOT, Wilkinson - £10 gift voucher, and Ramada Hotel, Sutton Coldfield.
There were lots of activites on the day for visitors to enjoy including the children's colouring competition, building the big Bartley bug hotel with Lyndsay and Zack, Geoff's garden centre with home grown plants, name the doll from Linda, coin flick game with Margaret and Paul and refreshments from Paula, Carolyn and Bob. Thanks to all the visitors and all plot holders who contributed to the event.
