Wychbury Road Allotments held their 2nd Open Day, on Saturday 6th July 12 noon - 4pm
The event was well attended and was a tremendous success with a beautiful sunny day to entice the visitors to relax and spend some time enjoying the new facilities and hospitality of the plot holders who contributed to make the event a success.
The majority of the proceeds raised are being donated to Help for Heroes and this included money raised from the Grand Raffle operated by Martin, Cakes and garden products stall from Sarah, Tarot Readings by Lynne and Drinks by Kevin. There are a few activities continuing but we have raised well over £1,000 that will go to support this worthy cause.
We received some fantastic donations from local business outlets, including: Hozelock - www.hozelock.com, Revolution - Fire Pit, Josepth Bentley Tools - www.josephbentley.co.uk, Black Horse, Illey Lane - meal for two, Bartley Green Garage - Car MOT, Cadbury World - www.cadburyworld.co.uk, Wilkinson - £10 gift voucher, Warwick Castle Tickets, Birmingham Symphony Hall Tickets and B&Q vouchers donated by Free Range Designs.
There was lots of activites on the day for visitors to enjoy including the Children's colouring competition that helped to decorate the new meeting room facilities, the drinks refreshments, Geoff's garden centre with home grown plants, bric-a-brac from Linda, hook a duck with Margaret and Paul and a smoking hot BBQ from Paula, Carolyn, Tony and Bob.
