A tree trunk near the waterline had joined forces with a large chunk of fallen concrete dock to form a barrier, trapping garden refuse, weed and refuse. When local cats decided to use it as a launchpad to pick off ducklings, it was clear urgent action was needed. Armed with professional equipment courtesy of James Taylor and Joe White the team sawed off the trunk and pulled it from the bank with an impressive 'tug 'o war' technique, then smashed the concrete and moved it to the side of the river. The wood was dead-hedged where there is a gap under the fence from the Pit Park. Thanks to Martyn Day, David Sinden, Sandrina Marshall, James Taylor, Lin Cordoray and Joe White.
