Margaretting Parish Council

Margaretting Parish Council has nine councillors who stand for election every four years.

Margaretting Parish Council currently maintains the following:

  • Bus shelters
  • Parish notice boards
  • Planning
  • Parish seats and benches
  • The green areas of the village
  • The war memorial
  • The play equipment and grounds of the Maldon Road Recreation Field

Margaretting Parish Council pays a contractor to cut the green areas and footpaths in the village.  Essex County Council, Chelmsford Borough Council and volunteers from the community also provide grass cutting services.

In its capacity as Custodian Trustee the parish council owns the freehold interest in the village hall and recreation ground in Wantz Road.  Day to day management is devolved to the committee of the Margaretting Recreation Ground and Village Hall Trust and this consists of representatives drawn from parish organisations plus other elected and co-opted members.

Margaretting Parish Council meets monthly (except August) and considers planning applications and any other matters referred to it by local residents, Chelmsford Borough Council, Essex County Council and central government.

All meetings are open to the public and are advertised on the parish council notice boards.  There is also an annual parish assembly which all parishoners and parish organisations are invited to attend.

Details of parish council meetings, planning applications and the parish assembly are included on this website and can be viewed by clicking on the links below.
