Welcome to The Arts Society Gainsborough and District

Please note that as a result of the Pandemic a number of our Lectures & Special Interest Days have had to be conducted via Zoom.

From the September 2021 meeting onwards it is intended that meetings will revert to our usual 'live' format at the Trinity Arts Centre, Gainsborough. However, it is hoped that the meetings will also be broadcast electronically via YouTube for those who feel that its too soon to return.

Should you feel unsure about YouTube technology, please feel free to contact:

Our society was founded in 1978 and has a membership of around 190. The Society exists to promote interest in and knowledge of all matters both current and historic relating to decorative and fine arts including textiles, music, paintings, architecture, books and sculpture and to support education and heritage retention in these areas.

The Society is a member society of The Arts Society (formerly the National Association of Decorative and Fine Art Societies, or NADFAS).

Meetings take place from February to December, but not July or August, on the afternoon of the first Thursday of each month, at the Trinity Arts Centre, Trinity Street, Gainsborough, DN21 2AL

We offer a comprehensive programme of lectures by approved speakers from The Arts Society, who are of a very high standard. In addition, there are Day Visits, Short Tours at Home and Abroad, and Study Days. The Arts Society organises study days, visits and heritage training on both an Area and National basis.

Active volunteer groups include Church Recorders and Heritage Volunteers – for more details please see the appropriate page on this web site. We also sponsor schools within our area through our Young Art  projects

More information including joining us and where we meet is available under the About Us tab at the top of the page.

Visitors are always welcome, but we would love you to join after a couple of visits - thank you.
