Kestrel

Our most common falcon, kestrels feed on small mammals and are often seen hovering (which they do by flying slowly into the wind). This one seemed to be using an ash tree on the woodland edge as a convenient vantage post. There's a kestrel nestbox near the Motor Road gate which has not yet been occupied, but maybe in 2016...  (Stephen Watson 22/11/2015)
