The 25th January saw almost 80 residents converge on Piper Hall on the Cambridge Road Estates for a Food Feast. This was an event co-organised by CAP, CREST and Refugee Action and saw a wonderful display of foods donated representing foods from countries such as Somalia, India, Italy, Greece, Ireland, England, Pakistan, Arabia, Morocco, Afganistan and many other countries.
For just £1 per person, young an old were able to help themselves to a kalaiedescope of cuisines backed up by enough salads, breads and desserts to satisfy even the hungriest of partcipants. In addition to sampling foods, those present were lucky enough to witness a variety of cultural entertainment – Indian dancing, singing and other such delights were enjoyed by all.
An added bonus was the inter-cultural friendships made over lunch. People young and old swapped tales and gossiped in the time honoured fashion.
