Groups encouraged to bid for micro-grants to support waste reduction projects

Micro-grants of up to £500 are available to organisations, individuals and schools to support waste reduction projects.

The application period for the current round of funding runs from Monday 16 October until just before midnight on Monday 30 October 2023.

Full criteria and the application form are available online at www.loveessex.org/love-essex-fund.

The Love Essex Fund has been running since October 2019 and is now open once again for applications.

For this round, the Love Essex Fund is hoping to support Essex projects that promote reuse and repair.

Essex County Council's Circular Economy and Strategy team, awards the funding. During the last round in October 2022, 38 separate projects received funding.

Previous applications for the fund include refill businesses, skills-sharing workshops, and repair cafes.

Councillor Peter Schwier, Climate Czar, Cabinet Member for Climate, Environment, Waste Reduction and Recycling, said: “The Love Essex Fund is a fantastic initiative that has encouraged the reduction of household waste in Essex since 2019.

“Reducing waste is a priority for Essex, and by encouraging reuse and repair in our local communities we can save money by preventing useful, good-quality items from being thrown away unnecessarily.

“Through micro-grant funding, The Love Essex Fund supports residents in reuse and repair projects by building their confidence and skills to sustain these sustainable behaviours, which are essential in the development of a circular economy.”

The application period for the current round of funding runs from Monday 16 October until just before midnight on Monday 30 October 2023.

Full criteria and the application form are available online at www.loveessex.org/love-essex-fund.

Success stories from previous applicants can be found on the Love Essex website: www.loveessex.org/success-stories.
