Worksop College East Greenland Catalina Expedition 2015 |
recce flight report:

Flew to and from East Greenland in the UK’s only airworthy Catalina flying boat. Explored the Vinblœsdal valley, south of Scoresbysund. Climbed five Arctic peaks including three possible first ascents. Equiped pupils with skills to become mountaineers. Gathered botanical and entomological specimens for British universities. On Thick Ice? |

Walk from Point 660 (near Kangerlussuaq) to Greenland ice sheet. Examine glacier ecology. Abseil into crevasses to obtain biological samples. Produce footage to use for education and outreach purposes. |

British Sam Ford Fjord Expedition |
Make alpine style, mostly free ascents of the huge walls surrounding Sam Ford Fjord on the East Coast of Baffin Island. Ascent the Polar Sun Spire. (Expedition postponed). |

To climb new routes in Hamborgeland on west coast of Greenland and new routes in the Cape Farewell area at the southern tip. To sail Dodo's Delight home across the Atlantic from Greenland to Scotland. | ||

Sail across north sea to Norway, up west coast to Tromso via Lofoten Islands, across Arctic Ocean to Svalbard. |

West Lancs Scouts

Fifteen Scouts from West Lancashire spent three weeks summiting the mountains around their base camp on the Emmanuel Glacier in Liverpool Land. The young team (two-thirds of the team under 30 and the average age of just 25!) enjoyed 15 days of fine weather to climb a number of peaks including first ascents of Reiff (1,000m), Sgurr nan Chumbawumba (1,200m), Abstract (803m) and Aiguille de Scouse (1,340m). A small team of four Explorer Scouts & Scout Network completed their Gold Duke of Edinburgh expedition during their time in the field. It didn’t always go to plan though, as the team also had to deal with two storms whilst in base camp, allowing them to practise their Scout skills on tent repairs! |

Arctic Ocean Sea Ice Project |
