Wake Colne Parish Council Award Scheme

Wakes Colne Parish Council, in North Essex, have just announced that they have set up a yearly ‘Wakes Colne Parish Council Award Scheme’ to acknowledge the important role of local parishioners who, over time, have acted in the best interests of the Village by their good deeds, energy and enthusiasm.

The Parish Council is seeking nominations sponsored by Councils, Organisations and local people [to also include those from adjoining Parishes] requesting that they put forward for scrutiny people that they believe deserve to be recognised at local level. The award will be an honorary title and each approved recipient will receive a framed certificate to demonstrate their achievement.

Councillor Stephen Scrase who initially suggested the award scheme states’ I have rather become irritated by minor celebrities who normally trip down the red carpet being showered by gongs and knighthoods just for being a well-paid celebrity; very little recognition of our local celebrities is forthcoming so why not set up our own low profile award scheme to give those that give their time and energy a pat on the back for helping the local population.’

‘If you know of a worthy individual be they those that have given voluntary service or represent a Village organisation or Church or Religious representative, Charity worker, Teacher, Carer, Council worker, Postal worker, Shop worker, or any other group of person then put their name forward. Application forms can be obtained from the Parish Clerk, Diane Jacob at parishclerk@wakescolne.org these need to be returned by 29th November 2024 with the awards being announced in January 2024.

‘Finally. Don’t hold back get sponsoring right now!’
