Chairman’s Report - October

Tendring Parish News

This month has signalled in Autumn  in all its glory, personally this is my favourite time of the year. The colours on the trees seem even better this year. It is a month to be enjoyed and to catch up on all the pruning jobs in the garden. Please try to ensure that plants, hedges etc. from your properties do not encroach on the public footpaths and pavements. Access for many of our residents is still difficult in many parts of The Street and I have had a number of  concerns voiced to me regarding this issue. Please be a good neighbour and avoid people having to step into the road to avoid overhanging branches and vegetation.

Planning issues this month include removal of trees from the following properties ,-the Old Parsonage (  app no 24/01156)  and Tendring Hall School road ( app no 24/10090 info only), pruning also to trees in  3 Hollyview Close (app no 24/01337). All applications were approved by Council where applicable. Other planning issues included a new porch for 5 Hollyview Close  ( app  no 24/01309 ) which was approved. However, the application  ( app no 24/01246 )for the erection of a timber fence bolted to the existing metal fence at Tendring Meadows Nursing and Residential home was rejected due to it exceeding the permissible height for a fence close to a road and also because it would decrease an already narrow footpath alongside it. Details of the results of previously considered planning applications can be found on our agenda.

The latest update from North Falls can be accessed from a link to a letter from the Examining Authority (ExA) that has been published on the National Infrastructure Planning website providing information about the Examination of this application, final Examination Timetable and other procedural decisions made by the ExA.

The Council have decided to action some necessary work which needs to be completed at the Memorial garden. It is hoped that this will be complete before the Remembrance service in November. This area of responsibility belongs to  Cllr Cauvain and she continues to provide guidance and practical help to maintain this area. Thank you on behalf of all of us who enjoy the gardens on a regular or occasional basis. The maintenance plan for Goose Green was also presented by Cllr Appleby and agreed by the Council. It will involve some work to the nest swing and various other pieces of equipment. Thanks to Cllr Appleby for the work she has undertaken to help us reach this decision.

The Council has listened to requests to have some lighting in the Village to herald the festive season and it has been decided to light up the Memorial gardens during this period. We hope it will bring pleasure to many of you. There are also plans to construct an area for residents to place a bauble to commemorate  loved one who they have lost or are absent from their lives making them part of the Village celebrations too. Talks continue with the Village hall and Church for a joint event at Christmas -more details to follow.

It was also minuted at the meeting  to send our best wishes for a full recovery to Cllr  Carlo Guglielmi. A report from Cllr Harris has voiced concerns about the probability of new housing development in the wider area. This is concerning for Tendring Village as we have a number of routes through the Village to reach the major roads which will also serve any new housing developments. At this point in time we have received no applications but we are alert to the possibility of developments in neighbouring Villages.

It was a nice day for our litter pick this month-this is not always the case! Thanks to all residents who participated and to Cllr Cauvain who organised the event. The village definitely looked smarter after the event and many residents stopped to congratulate those of us who picked litter on our contributions to making Tendring a better place.

Our next meeting is

Monday 28th October 7.30pm in the Village Hall.

All are welcome to attend and the details of our minutes and agendas can be found on
