Scunthorpe & District Choral Society is a thriving, vibrant and welcoming choir with 110 singing members. Concerts are varied and exciting and the Choir enjoys a fine reputation as one of the best choirs in the North of England. Professional tuition is given at all rehearsals, to people of differing abilities and musicianship.

Overall, our repertoire ranges from Baroque to Modern and we perform with first-class soloists and orchestras. The society is affiliated to Making Music, which represents and supports amateur performing and promoting societies throughout the UK.

The Society meets at 7.30pm on Thursday nights between September and April at

     Bottesford Baptist Church

     Chancel Road

     Bottesford

     DN16 3LD

We have been around, in one form or another, since 1881 (see the History page).  We put on two main concerts each season, as well as a Christmas concert, where we are traditionally joined by the Scunthorpe Co-operative Junior Choir (BBC Radio 3 Choir of the Year, 2008.

New singers are always welcome (sopranos, altos, tenors and basses).  There is no formal audition (we run a mentoring scheme) and expert tuition is given.

If you're interested in joining - or perhaps to give it a try, - just come along.  if you're unsure about committing yourself or not sure about your singing ability or if you've any questions, please email secretary.sdchoral@gmail.com.  It's just as well to try to turn up quite early in the given term so that you don't miss too much rehearsal time for the forthcoming concert.
