Brian Chappell delivered Pontefract in Bloom single-handed for 10 years, but in 2015 with advancing age and failing health he realised that he could no longer continue alone and a committee was formed in October 2015 to assist him. Sadly Brian died in December 2016 and in 2017 a metalwork sculpture was commissioned from local artist Stephen Williams to enclose the planter on Bridge Street, near the Magna Carta Memorial to celebrate his contribution to Pontefract in Bloom. Two additional tiers were added in 2020.
